Statutory Data Protection

Privacy Policy & UK GDPR Directives

UK Road Closures is committed to upholding the highest standards of digital privacy, strictly adhering to the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

1. Principles of Data Minimisation

Our platform operates under a strict principle of data minimization. We do not require user account registration, do not capture driving licence numbers, and do not track vehicle registration marks (VRMs) or Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) feeds.

Zero ANPR Ingestion

We do not capture or store vehicle registration marks, speed camera captures, or personal vehicle movement records.

Datex II Aggregation

Incident logs are ingested from anonymized European Datex II XML feeds published under Open Government Licence v3.0.

Statutory Edge Security

Global edge caching and TLS 1.3 cryptographic protocols protect all highway situational queries against interception.

All incident feeds broadcast through this website are derived from aggregated, anonymized public sector event trees published by National Highways and the Department for Transport.

2. Server Telemetry & Anonymous Logs

When you access ukroadclosures.eu, standard edge server logs capture non-identifying technical metadata necessary for network security, DDoS mitigation, and edge caching via Cloudflare. This includes:

  • Browser user-agent string and operating system architecture.
  • Referrer URL and HTTP response code.
  • Truncated, anonymized IP addresses utilized solely for geographic regional caching (e.g. routing UK visitors to London edge nodes).

3. Cookie Directives, Google Analytics 4 & Consent Mode v2

UK Road Closures enforces a strict privacy-first architecture in compliance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK/EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Mandatory • Essential

Strict Functional Storage

Remembers user corridor preferences (e.g. M25 or A38) and your cookie consent decision in browser local storage. Never shared with third parties.

Optional • Analytics

Google Analytics 4 Telemetry

Measures aggregate national highway monitoring trends under Google Consent Mode v2. Disabled by default until explicit approval is granted.

Essential Cookies & Storage: Lightweight client-side local storage is used solely to store your road corridor preferences (e.g. A38 or M25) and remember your cookie consent decisions (ukrc_consent_analytics). No personal profiling or third-party behavioral targeting is permitted.

Optional Telemetry (Google Analytics 4): With your prior explicit consent, we deploy Google Analytics (Measurement ID: G-W4NQS96G3L) to collect aggregated, anonymous traffic demand metrics across the Strategic Road Network. We enforce:

  • Google Consent Mode v2: All analytics storage and ad tags remain strictly set to denied by default until you actively click "Accept Analytics".
  • IP Anonymization: Full IP addresses are never recorded or stored on Google analytics servers.
  • Zero Advertising Profiles: Remarketing and advertising signals are permanently disabled.

You can inspect or revoke your analytics consent at any time using the Cookie Preferences control in our site footer.

4. Third-Party Legal & Emergency Partner Enquiries

If you voluntarily submit an enquiry through our statutory compensation evaluation tool, your contact details are transmitted securely over TLS encryption exclusively to our designated SRA-regulated solicitor partner to review your Road Traffic Accident (RTA) inquiry. We do not sell or broker personal contact data.

5. Supervisory Authority Contact (ICO)

If you have questions regarding our data practices under the UK GDPR, you have the statutory right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or via helpline on 0303 123 1113.
